Toolbars/dialogs displayed in black/white due to conflicting font setting.
Cause:
This problem occurs because the font is scaled to less than 100 percent of its normal size in the 'Custom Font Size' dialog box. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Excel at this point.
Solution:
Increase the font scale to 100% of its normal size in the 'Custom Font Size' dialog box.
1) Click 'Start' to display the Windows 'Start' menu.

2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'.

3) Open 'Display' in the 'Control Panel' window. (The Display Properties dialog box appears.)
4) Click the 'Settings' tab.
5) Click 'Custom...'. (The Custom Font Size dialog box appears.)

6) Select '100%' from the 'Scale fonts to be' drop-down list.

7) Click 'OK'. (The Display Properties dialog box reappears.)
8) Click 'OK' in the 'Display Properties' dialog box.
NOTE: A message pops up stating that the computer needs to be restarted for the change to take effect and asking whether to restart the computer now.
9) Click 'Yes' to restart the computer.
